First published on August 17th 1945 by George Orwell, being refused by publisher after publisher, his simple, tragic fable has since become a world-famous classic. Animal farm is the story consisting of downtrodden animals of “Manor Farm” who rebel, overtake and ultimately overthrow out their master Mr Jones, and decide to take over the farm for themselves. Where they hope to create a place for the animals that will now consist of freedom, equality and happiness. However, it unravels and there is betrayal, so the outcome they wanted does not become the case, leading back to a farm that had the same feelings it did in the beginning. A commentary on different political systems and the nature of humankind are striking throughout making it a masterpiece of social commentary.
