Description

Offred, Fred Waterford being her assigned name, where Offred means “Of Fred”, due to herself only having one function… To breed.

She is a Handmaid, living the Republican of Gilead, which is a religious totalitarian state in what was formerly known as the United States, and is placed in the household of the Commander. However, if Offred refuses to enter into any sexual slavery to repopulate the devastated world, then her consequence will be that she is hanged.

As she calls her pre-revolution in flashbacks, Offred must navigate through the terrifying landscape of torture and persecution within the present day and between two men upon which her future hangs upon.
